When comparing a Biological Sewage System to the standard french soak away, it is easy to see the differences. The French drain pollutes the earth and will eventually need to be drained to get rid of harsh sewage odors. They often get blocked up or flooded when it rains. Questions about a Biological Sewage System

Is the sludge treated properly (i.e. being removed or re-introduced into the system)?

Is there a way to keep the non-biodegradables out of the system?

How is the air supply being introduced to the plant correctly?

Is the air supply controlled, in order to maintain correct level of dissolved oxygen to the plant?

How is the final water supply sterilized?

If something breaks or is malfunctioning, do you have to climb into the system to repair it?

Can the plant handle peak flows, if so HOW?

The Benefits Are Clear

Firstly all sewage water must be collected and pass through the pumping station. Next all faecal solids must be removed as this needs to be separated. The water now is mostly solid free. Non-Biodegradable's are removed in this phase.

Secondly the anoxic bioreactor reduces nitrogen and organics. An aerobic fixed film process oxidises residual organics and provides an environment for a nitrifying bio-film. This is where nitrification and de-nitrification occurs.

The third step includes more separation. More sludge like particles will gather at the bottom of the tank and clearer water at the top. 

The fourth step includes treating the clear water. This process will be done either by Ozone or alternative Ultraviolet technology. This water will have no odor, will be clean and most importantly environmentally friendly. This water is ready to to use.

What size plants can be designed?

The plants are in modules and so also built to customer specifications. Each project is different. Subsequently the smallest size is a plant that treats 2000 liters per day. This can be black or grey water. In the same vein the bigger plants can treat 495, 000 liters in a day.

What is the anticipated final effluent quality?

Firstly, the components are anoxic, aerobic and anaerobic reactors. This system produces effluent that has nitrogen levels that are low. 

Secondly, the standard of effluent is of a quality equal to purification of waste.

This is in line the Government Gazette (Revision of general authorizations in terms of section 39 of the National Water Act, 1998 (Act. No. 36 of 1998).

What warranty or guarantee is offered?

We strive to use SABS approved equipment or equivalent components. These are all from waste water treatment plant standard installations.
This is to say that mechanical parts have a limited warranty in line with the manufacturer warranties.
Further, the equipment is tried and tested. This is so that a life span in excess of 25 years can be expected.
To clarify, the piping that is used is class 6 UPVC with a coat that is UV protected with paint.
